You explore the ruins of the ancient world, finding powerful technological relics and treasures from the past, and fighting the terrible creatures and guardians that the ruined Age of Technology spawned. In this new, definitive version of the game, you will find a much simplified game system completely compatible with Mörk Borg, bringing the first true rules-light game to Blackoath's catalog. Despite this, the game is absolutely packed with content, with dozens of tables to generate the world as you play, items to loot, NPCs to recruit or deal with, and creatures to fight. Quick Character Creation

Random landmark generation, ruin generation, settlements, NPCs, enemy creature behavior… Everything you need is here. And if you're planning on running this as a GM for your friends, the game's procedures do all the heavy lifting for you, ensuring you can jump into a session with zero prep.

A Dark, Science-Fantasy Setting

While the world is still full of technological wonder, humanity has devolved into a series of feudal states controlled by nobility or religious orders tending to the all powerful Machine Gods. Outside of the few walled settlements and city-states lies a vast, unexplored land waiting to be explored, with all sorts of horrors left from the Ancient Age of Technology, desperate scavengers, cultists, slavers, and worse.

Magic & Spellcasting

As the old adage goes, “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”. The Age of Technology might be long gone, but powerful relics of that time remain, many still fully operable. All “spells” are cast using these relics, and “magic items” that grant their wielders powerful abilities are always sought after by all factions and powerful individuals. 

Exploration

The game includes rules for exploring the Noxian Expanse, with procedures for navigating, encountering events, and interacting with the environment and the Noxian Expanse’s inhabitants. Find an interesting, old arcology you want to explore? Use the random ruin generation rules to fully create everything you need on the fly. Using a simple grid-based procedure, you will slowly create a map of the region as you explore and encounter all sorts of interesting landmarks, settlements, ruins, and more. 

Rules-light & Modular

Machine Gods of the Noxian Expanse is a very simple and straightforward game, built with the intent to be easily hackable and expandable, and compatible with all other Mörk Borg material. Future official releases will be coming on a regular basis, with more places to explore, modular rules to deepen the game’s mechanics, and much more!
